Ethan Allen: Blending the Old and New Finishes

Ethan Allen: Blending the Old and New Finishes

If there is one word that describes Ethan Allen, it is timeless. As one of the leading upscale furniture manufacturers, Ethan Allen has been around for almost 100 years. A lot of trends have come and gone over those years, but Ethan Allen remains a constant.

While Ethan Allen still produces traditional furniture (or what I like to call fancy), they have adapted over the years and can do nearly any style from contemporary to relaxed coastal.

While many clients who are building a new home tend to start over with all new furnishings, there are others who bring a few treasured antique pieces to the mix. With Ethan Allen's broad range of finishes, I can have new pieces produced that will blend seamlessly with those antique treasures.

A Curated Mix, Not a Matched Set

The dresser in this guest room was manufactured 100 years ago by Berkey and Gay. It would be a sin to throw out this piece, as it was in perfect condition and still a fabulous statement piece. Needing to complete the bedroom with a bed and nightstands, Ethan Allen's Cayman collection in the brownstone finish paired well with the antique dresser.

Perfectly matched bedroom collections look boring and amateur. Combining the Berkey and Gay dresser with Ethan Allen's Cayman bed and nightstands created a more curated style that looks like it was built over years.

If you have older pieces in your home and do not know how to go about incorporating them with your current furnishings, we can help find the perfect new pieces to blend with the old. And do not think for a moment that the old pieces are merely being incorporated. In this guest room project, it is that Berkey and Gay dresser that is still taking center stage in the room.
